GUWAHATI: Students of the Guwahati zone came out with flying colours in the state level Combined Entrance Examination (CEE), 2017 by securing the top three positions in the coveted engineering entrance exam the results of which were declared on Friday.

Raktim Gautam Goswami and Punit Shyamuskha, both from the same zone, stood second and third by scoring 373 and 364 marks respectively. Sanchita Kundu from the zone was declared the female topper with a score of 270.
“Better facility for coaching seems to be an important factor for which many candidates from Guwahati zone have got top rankings in the CEE. Many engineering aspirants from other parts of the state also come to Guwahati to prepare for the entrance exam,” said Atul Bora, director of technical education, Assam. He added that introduction of negative marking in CEE from this year helped in selecting the meritorious candidates, who have qualified the test purely on merit.
Officials in the state directorate of technical education (DTE) said the admission process in the engineering institutions will be completed within July. Altogether, 10 candidates from the Guwahati zone made it to the Top Ten list.
